Ouakam : 2 dealers arrêtés avec 5 kg de drogue après un piège tendu par la BRS de Dakar
The Dakar Regional Narcotics Brigade, under the auspices of the OCRTIS (Central Office for the Repression of Illicit Drug Trafficking), arrested two individuals in Ouakam on March 11, 2026, in possession of five kilograms of cannabis. The operation, launched based on intelligence, led to their arrest in the act, according to Seneweb sources.
Alerted by intelligence indicating that an individual was very active in trafficking Indian hemp in Ouakam and its surroundings, exclusively in the evenings, the Dakar BRS (Brigade de Recherches Spéciales - Special Research Brigade) took action. An undercover agent made contact and placed an order for five kilograms, negotiated at 120,000 CFA francs per kilogram.
The delivery location was set at the Ouakam football field, and a team of agents was discreetly deployed. A. Thiam, 52, a metal welder residing in Ouakam, arrived with the merchandise and fell into the trap. He was arrested on the spot.
Escorted back to his home for a search, investigators found I. Ndiaye, 40, a mason, also residing in Ouakam, who was immediately arrested. The search of the premises led to the seizure of seven additional packages of cannabis, priced at 5,000 CFA francs each, as well as three mobile phones.
After being notified of their rights to be assisted by counsel of their choice, the two accused were taken into custody for conspiracy, possession and trafficking of Indian hemp.
