The Dakar Regional Narcotics Brigade, under the Central Office for the Repression of Illicit Drug Trafficking (OCRTIS), carried out a successful operation on the night of November 10, 2025. Three individuals were arrested around 10:20 p.m. in the Ouakam, Mamelles and HLM districts, with seventy-eight (78) bottles of nitrous oxide in their possession.

It all started with the exploitation of operational intelligence indicating a well-organized trafficking of this gas, often used for recreational purposes. The information stated that an individual possessed a large quantity of the prohibited product and was selling it illegally in several upscale neighborhoods of the capital.

Following this alert, OCRTIS agents arrested a first suspect in Yoff, found in possession of several bottles of nitrous oxide. The investigation led to the arrest of his supplier in Ouakam, where a search of his room uncovered four (4) additional bottles.

Continuing their manhunt, investigators apprehended a third individual at the HLM market. He was arrested in a Ford Fusion, in which police discovered seventy-two (72) bottles hidden in the back seat. During a body search, the suspect was also found to be carrying a bag containing cash and an iPhone 15 Pro Max.

All the seized equipment — the nitrous oxide bottles, the phones, the vehicle and the money — has been placed under seal.

This operation is part of the ongoing fight led by the OCRTIS against the trafficking and consumption of prohibited substances on national territory.
