Ouest Foire : la BRS de Dakar démantèle un réseau de trafic de drogue à ciel ouvert , neuf interpellés
On Thursday, July 2, 2026, between 7:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., officers from the Dakar Regional Narcotics Brigade (BRS) of the Central Office for the Repression of Illicit Drug Trafficking (OCRTIS) conducted a raid in the Khandar neighborhood of Ouest Foire, dismantling an open-air drug trafficking network reported by residents. Nine individuals were arrested in possession of hashish, bladed weapons, and significant sums of money.
A network denounced by residents
The operation follows a series of complaints and calls for intervention from residents of Ouest Foire, who were fed up with the existence of drug trafficking networks operating openly in the area of the former runway of Léopold Sédar Senghor Airport and the Khandar neighborhood. These networks, run by young people, were also involved in numerous assaults in the area.
The first person arrested sheds light on the matter
That evening, lookouts from the Dakar BRS (Brigade de Répression du Sécurité - Security Brigade) spotted a group of young people in the middle of a drug distribution. An assault was launched. The first to fall was C. Marone, 26, a driver residing in Yoff, apprehended with a ball of hashish carefully concealed in his mouth. Invited to cooperate, he admitted to having been supplied by Khandar's open drug network and revealed the exact location of the dealing spot.

Based on this information, officers from the Dakar BRS (Brigade de Recherche et d'Intervention - Research and Investigation Brigade) immediately went to the scene. The operation led to the arrest of eight other individuals and the seizure of a ball of hashish, two pairs of scissors, and an axe.

In addition to drugs and bladed weapons, a search of the suspects and the premises led to the seizure of 105,500 CFA francs, nine mobile phones (seven Android phones and two basic phones), and a Jakarta motorcycle. All seized items were temporarily held at the station for sealing.
Nine people are in custody; the investigation is ongoing.
