Près de deux tiers des Français favorables à la démission d'Emmanuel Macron
According to an Odoxa-Backbone poll for Le Figaro, 64% of them would like to see a new occupant at the Élysée Palace and the organization of an early presidential election, rather than the appointment of a fifth Prime Minister in less than two years.
56% of them are calling for a new dissolution and the holding of early legislative elections to find a way out of the crisis.
In another poll by Verian for Le Figaro Magazine, only 15% of French people say they trust the president, a sharp and unprecedented drop of six points compared to July 2025.
He is also losing the confidence of his first-round voters in 2022, only 45% of whom are now in his favor (-14 points over one month), the lowest level observed since his election in 2017, according to a second Elabe poll for Les Échos.
With four days to go before a vote in the National Assembly, François Bayrou's future seems to be hanging by a thread, as the opposition, including the Socialist Party, has already announced that it will not vote on Monday for the confidence vote he requested on the urgent need to reduce the debt.
The MPs are not the only ones who no longer believe in the head of government's ability to turn the country around, as the French people's confidence in him is also down, at 14% (-2 points), according to the Verian poll. This is the lowest level ever recorded for a Prime Minister in this barometer.
The negative public opinion surrounding the executive couple inevitably affects their parties. The MoDem and Renaissance are seeing their image deteriorate in the eyes of the French, with their approval ratings now down to 17% and 14% respectively. On the contrary, the current political climate is benefiting the National Rally, which is by far the party with the best image (40%), according to the same survey.
Jordan Bardella, its president, has a popularity rating of 39%, a record high in the Elabe indicator, which places him ahead of Marine Le Pen (37%) and the former Prime Minister and president of the Horizons party, Édouard Philippe (34%).
In the same survey, MP François Ruffin remains the most popular figure (52%) among left-wing and environmentalist voters, ahead of Fabien Roussel (50%), national secretary of the Communist Party. Among Emmanuel Macron's voters, Renaissance party leader Gabriel Attal remains in the lead (72%) and Bruno Retailleau, president of the Republicans, climbs to fourth place (+2 points).
The Odoxa-Backbone survey for Le Figaro was conducted online from September 3 to 4, with a sample of 1,005 people.
The Verian survey for Le Figaro Magazine was conducted online from August 31 to September 2 among a sample of 1,000 people, representative of the entire population aged 18 and over, using the quota method, with a margin of error of 1.4 to 3.1 points.
The Elabe survey for Les Échos was conducted online from September 2 to 3 among a sample of 1,000 people, representative of residents of metropolitan France aged 18 and over, using the quota method. Margin of error of 1.4 to 3.1 points.
