Plus de 100 millions FCFA de butin : Le récit du cambriolage spectaculaire d'une bijouterie par une bande armée
The holy city of Tivaouane was the scene of an exceptionally large-scale robbery. During the night of Sunday, February 22nd to Monday, February 23rd, 2026, a gang of armed criminals successfully robbed a local jewelry store. The loot, consisting of precious jewelry, is estimated to be worth over 100 million CFA francs.
According to the owner's testimony, the attack was carried out by an organized group. He recounts that "five hooded, armed individuals broke into the premises around 2:00 a.m." Once inside, the assailants didn't stop at the display case. They "forced open a safe containing gold and silver jewelry" before seizing a second safe containing various administrative documents.
Faced with this colossal loss, the shop owner filed a formal complaint with the Tivaouane police station. The police immediately launched an investigation to identify and track down the perpetrators of this armed robbery. At this stage, "a witness has already been interviewed as part of the investigation" to help investigators reconstruct the events of the night.
