Panique à Pikine : 9 passagers blessés dans une course-poursuite entre bus Tata, les deux chauffeurs arrêtés
A high-speed chase between two Tata buses left nine people injured on Saturday, June 20, 2026, in Pikine. The local police station was notified of the accident, which occurred around 6:00 PM on 10th Street, near the bar commonly known as "Saf Bar," in the direction of the Pikine courthouse. Emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene.
The chase
According to witness statements and police findings, F. Niang, 28, a driver residing in Keur Massar, was driving the Tata bus on route 80, registration number AA-191-BH. He engaged in a high-speed chase with I. Seck, 35, a driver residing in Pikine, who was driving the Tata bus on route 72, registration number AB-655-DE.
At the Saf Bar, F.Niang attempted to overtake the second vehicle to go around it. However, due to the narrowing of the roadway, caused by parking and other obstructions, he ended up on the median strip, hitting a street lamp head-on, which collapsed in the middle of the road.
Nine injured people evacuated
Following the collision, nine passengers in the vehicle driven by F. Niang were injured. They were taken by firefighters to a medical facility, according to Seneweb sources.
The two drivers were questioned.
The two drivers were arrested for dangerous driving, endangering the lives of others, involuntary injury, and destruction of public property. They were taken into custody. Prosecutor Saliou Dicko has been informed of the case. The investigation is ongoing.
