Parcelles-Assainies: Bras droit de son grand-père souffrant de troubles oculaires, il lui vole ses 2 millions

On March 19, 2026, the police station of Unit 15 of Parcelles Assainies referred three individuals to the prosecutor's office for criminal association, theft, complicity in theft and receiving stolen goods.

It all began on February 20, 2026, when two successive fires broke out in the bedroom of Amady Seck, a resident of Unit 15 in the Parcelles Assainies district. Following these fires, the complainant discovered the disappearance of gold jewelry belonging to his deceased wife, valued at over two million CFA francs. He then filed a complaint against persons unknown.

The investigation quickly focused suspicion on his own grandson, 19-year-old Amar Sarr Ndiaye, unemployed and residing in Unit 15 of the Parcelles Assainies neighborhood. The triggering event: he was preparing to sell a sheep belonging to his grandfather without his knowledge. Arrested on March 16, 2026, he confessed to stealing the jewelry approximately two months earlier from his grandfather's room, taking advantage of the blind trust the latter placed in him. Suffering from eye problems, Amady Seck had indeed made his grandson his right-hand man, involving him in all his daily tasks, according to Seneweb sources.

NDIAYE admitted to selling the stolen jewelry to two jewelers in the Thiaroye market: Samba GUEYE, 29, a jeweler residing in Yeumbeul, and Cheikh SECK, 27, also a jeweler residing in Yeumbeul. Arrested on March 17, 2026, in their jewelry shops in Thiaroye, the two men confessed to the crime.

Samba Gueye admits to having purchased a ring and earrings for 210,000 CFA francs, before melting them down to make other jewelry, which was subsequently seized. Analysis of his mobile phone also reveals that Amar Sarr Ndiaye had repeatedly offered him his grandfather's belongings, sending him videos of a television, gold and silver jewelry, and a final video of the infamous sheep.

Cheikh SECK, for his part, admits to having bought a gold necklace and bracelet for 110,000 CFA francs, before reselling them for 4,200,000 CFA francs to a certain Mohamed residing in Pikine, whose identity remains to be established.

The three accused were brought before the prosecutor on March 19, 2026 for criminal association, theft, complicity in theft and receiving stolen goods.
