PJF : 10 ans de réclusion requis contre T. A. Ndao pour trafic international de "Souss"

If the court follows the prosecutor's recommendation, 26-year-old TA Ndao will remain in prison for 10 years. The accused was tried this Wednesday at the Financial Judicial Pool (PJF) for international drug trafficking. He will learn his fate on May 13.

According to the prosecution, investigators were informed of the alleged international drug trafficking activities of a man named TA Ndao. A detailed description of him and his residence was provided to them by an anonymous informant.

Based on this information, a raid was carried out. He was spotted and arrested in possession of ecstasy powder, commonly known as "souss." A search was then conducted in his room. Investigators discovered 17 packaged ecstasy tablets, loose cannabis, and hashish.

During his police interview, the young man made a detailed confession, admitting to drug trafficking. He explained in detail the conditions under which he obtained his supplies.

According to his statements, he had a contact in Gambia, named Mouhamed Ba, alias "Pamm Ba," who supplied him with the drugs. He indicated that he concealed them in his luggage to bring them into Senegal, before packaging and selling them.

Before the investigating judge, he confirmed the statements he had made during the preliminary investigation. However, he clarified that he did not travel to Gambia himself, claiming that the drugs were sent to him. According to the accused, his supplier concealed the merchandise in mayonnaise jars, which were then given to a driver who shuttled between the two countries. He also revealed that, during his last delivery, he had purchased 100 ecstasy tablets for 100,000 CFA francs.

In court, the defendant recanted his statements made during the preliminary investigation and before the investigating magistrate. He maintained that he was arrested with only two grams of drugs intended for his personal use. He claimed to have bought the substance to combat insomnia. According to him, the police added the 17 grams to the charge to frame him.

In its submissions, the prosecution requested a 10-year prison sentence for the charges of conspiracy and drug trafficking. For its part, the defense, represented by attorney Alphonse Faye, argued for the dismissal of the charge of trafficking in detention for personal use, requesting leniency on this point. Regarding the conspiracy charge, the attorney requested an acquittal.
