Port de Dakar : Waly Diouf Bodiang sème la zizanie avec ses…
The recent appointments of division heads at the Port of Dakar have sparked much discussion among workers. Indeed, within the space of 48 hours, the managing director, Waly Diouf Bodiang, made two contradictory decisions.
"It all started on November 26," reports Les Échos, which broke the story: the CEO appointed division heads and published the decision. Two days later, he reversed the decision and drew up a new list, removing some names.
The daily newspaper reveals that this 180-degree turn is the result of discontent among port employees who are members of Pastef. Sources at Les Échos suggest that these employees demanded the removal of the names of members of the regime overthrown in 2024, believing that Waly Diouf Bodiang was either misled or made the decision knowingly.
The newspaper reports that in certain circles at the Port, it is claimed that a "political purge," aimed at getting rid of all anti-Pastef individuals, is underway within their company. "He doesn't deny the right to appoint or dismiss whomever he wants, since that is his prerogative, but the way it's being done is ugly," lamented an employee who spoke to Les Échos.
"It looks like management based on mood," other voices chimed in. "He could wake up one day and question everything. God help us not to, because a division head's salary is very good."
