Pr. Souleymane Bachir Diagne : « L’ordre mondial s’est affaissé »
Ethics was scrutinized by researchers and academics. It was on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, during a roundtable discussion organized by the National Academy of Sciences and Technology of Senegal (ANSTS). One of the panelists, philosopher Souleymane Bachir Diagne, outlined the challenges of transmitting ethics in a world where we are witnessing the rise of certain political currents.
"We are in a period where the international order has collapsed. Nationalisms are flourishing. Political extremisms are multiplying across the world. The power of tribalism is manifesting itself in all its horror. We have the impression that political conflicts are tribal wars," the philosopher lamented.
The National Academy of Science and Technology of Senegal must address the major changes underway around the world and offer solutions for countries like ours. "The academy also promotes programs between science and society. It involves discussions on topics of great interest to our community," explained the vice-president of the ANSTS, Professor Ousmane Kane.
For her part, the chair of the ethics committee, Ramatoulaye Diagne Mbengue, called for a culture of ethics in a world where there is a tendency to lose values. "Ethics must be transmitted and preserved in our society. It is about ensuring and promoting a culture of ethics," Ms. Mbengue maintained.
For Professor Ly, a legal specialist, "ethics is all about life. It's about behaviors and skills, national and international rules. It's a set of legal provisions in force that must be applied."

Je vois passer beaucoup d’avis négatifs sur ce Monsieur. Il y en a aussi beaucoup qui se posent des questions sur son utilité à la nation.
Qu’on le veuille ou pas, il fait partie du cercle des grands penseurs modernes. Avant, dans notre pays, cette catégorie servait de référence à toute une jeunesse en quête de devenir. Je peux personnellement dire que je me suis servi de son exemple pour assouvir mes ambitions.
L’année où il a eu son agrégation, je partais pour intégrer une classe préparatoire scientifique. Je m’étais dit que si lui y était arrivé alors je devais pouvoir le faire aussi. Il aura été une bonne inspiration et je l’en remercie vivement.
