The story of S. Bâ, a father sentenced to three months in prison for stealing a cart driver's earnings to pay for his son's schooling, had an unexpected ending.
In its edition of Friday, January 9, L'Observateur reveals that an anonymous benefactor, a retired civil servant, moved by the story published in the newspaper, went to the Mbour Detention and Correction Center (MAC) to speak at length with the detainee.
On the spot, he reimbursed the 40,500 FCFA that S. Bâ had stolen to pay his child's monthly fee and paid the 20,000 FCFA in damages owed to the plaintiff.
Even more incredible, the same source notes, the man went directly to the school of S. Bâ's son to pay the full school fees for the current year.
