Ziguinchor hosted the signing of a co-financing agreement for a business plan that will enroll 150 young people from Casamance in sectors such as market gardening, livestock fattening, and agricultural product processing. This initiative demonstrates the authorities' commitment to combating youth underemployment and encouraging them to stay at home to succeed.

Talla Guèye, national coordinator of the Agri-Jeunes Project, Tekki Ndawñi, welcomed this commitment linking his organization and Agro-Beydaré. ʺAgro-Beydaré is part of the second generation of producer organizations that are now leading initiatives for the professional integration of rural youth in the agro-forestry-pastoral and fisheries sectors. We have just completed a first experiment with 44 operations that allowed us to enroll more than 11,000 young people. Today, we have opened a second phase to strengthen and expand because we have seen significant results during this first experiment,ʺ he declared.

 

Talla Guèye informs that the expected result through the implementation of this agreement is "to ensure that these 150 young people can earn at least an average monthly income of 150,000 CFA francs."

 

Mahamadou Tidiane Diallo, CEO of Agro-Beydaré Senegal, praised this project, which was designed by the Senegalese government to benefit young people. "We have always wanted to participate in their work because we have seen that it is a concrete plan, but also one that will create wealth." He went on to express optimism for the future: "We are already 80% sure that we will succeed."

However, Mahamadou Tidiane Diallo asked the authorities to provide more support for this project, which he believes is a solution to the lack of youth employment and even to migratory flows.
