Propos jugés offensants contre Serigne Moustapha Sy Al Amine : L’APR dénonce des attaques « attentatoires à la dignité »
The Alliance for the Republic (APR) condemns "in the strongest possible terms the verbal attacks" against Serigne Moustapha Sy Al Amine. It describes these remarks as "disparaging, insulting, and an attack on the dignity" of a respected religious figure and major player in the spiritual and social life of Senegal.
In a statement released on January 30, 2026, the party led by former president Macky Sall asserts that no political justification can excuse such remarks. "No ideological difference, no political confrontation, no quest for visibility can justify the denigration of a religious leader," the document emphasizes.
Emphasizing the central role of religious authorities in national cohesion, the APR party reiterates that "Senegal was built and consolidated on a precious balance between the Republic and spirituality." Therefore, any attack on this balance through "irreverent or provocative" remarks constitutes "a serious threat to social peace, living together in harmony, and national stability."
In this regard, the APR calls on all political actors to demonstrate "responsibility, restraint and dignity", believing that the national context requires "more appeasement than escalation, more respect than provocation".
