Reconnaissance de la Ville de Thiès : la joie de Monseigneur André Guèye
The City of Thiès paid a vibrant tribute to Monsignor André Guèye, Archbishop of Dakar and former Bishop of Thiès, by awarding him a medal of recognition for services rendered to the community.
Considered a venerable servant of Thiès, Monsignor André Guèye marked his time at the head of the diocese with a constant commitment to the people, beyond religious affiliations.
Speaking after receiving this distinction, the prelate expressed his gratitude and joy.
"I am filled with great joy after receiving this distinction. It motivates me to make my commitment even more evident and effective in serving the general population," he said.
He also assured that he would continue his efforts to support the Church's actions for the benefit of the inhabitants of Thiès.
"I will spare no effort to ensure that, together with the ecclesiastical authorities of Thiès, what the Church has begun can move forward for the benefit of the people of Thiès, without distinction of religion," he added.
Bishop André Guèye also praised the "generous" commitment of the city's mayor, Babacar Diop, to serving the people. He concluded by offering prayers that God would continue to guide the mayor in his duties for the benefit of the residents of Thiès.
