Délocalisation du 4 avril 2026 à Thiès : "Le Président Diomaye Faye redonne à la ville sa place dans le récit national" (MIMI 2024/Thiès)
The President of the Republic's decision to relocate the celebration of the national holiday of April 4, 2026 to the city of Thiès was welcomed with pride and gratitude by the MIMI 2024/Thiès Departmental Coordination.
"This strong choice establishes Thiès as a major center of national history and development. It reflects the Head of State's desire to promote local governance, based on territorialization, equity and recognition of local dynamics," consider the coordinator, Lamine Sène, and his colleagues.
According to those close to Mrs. Aminata Mimi Touré, "through this decision, the President honors the memory of the social and political struggles waged by the people of Thiès and restores our city to its place in the national narrative."
For MIMI-2024/Thiès, "this relocation is a symbolic political act and a source of hope. It reinforces our commitment alongside the President of the Republic for a just, sovereign and inclusive Senegal."
The Coordination also calls on all active forces to mobilize to make April 4, 2026, in Thiès, a popular, unified and patriotic celebration.
