Rentrée portuaire : Le PAD en eau bleue
The Grand National Theatre Doudou Ndiaye Rose served as the setting, this Tuesday, for the Port Opening 2026 in the presence of the President of the National Assembly, El Malick Ndiaye, several ministers, deputies and other personalities from the sector.

Under the banner of modernization and national expertise supported by its Director General Mr. Wally Diouf Bodiang, the Autonomous Port of Dakar (PAD) has outlined its roadmap, officially presented its partners including the new strategic operator: Jambaar.
In a context marked by the launch of the PAD Repositioning Plan, the validation of the National Port Strategy and an acceleration of digitalization, the Autonomous Port of Dakar is asserting itself more than ever as the economic heart of Senegal.
Handling more than 95% of foreign trade and serving as the natural gateway to the Dakar-Bamako corridor, the PAD is taking a new step towards international competitiveness.
A profound structural transformation
To meet the requirements of safety, sustainability and efficiency, the PAD has undertaken major reforms: modernization of terminals, strengthening of reception capacities, construction of the deep water port of Ndayane and adoption of a new visual identity.
The symbol of Senegal's port renewal is the arrival of the Senegal/Spanish-Belgian consortium, Jambaar, operator of Pier 4, of which the PAD is a committed shareholder.
Formerly considered the critical link in the value chain due to low profitability, Pier 4 is beginning its metamorphosis.
Under Jambaar's management, it will become a center of excellence for breakbulk (cereals) and the future river-sea bridge linking Dakar to the regional ports of Ziguinchor and Kaolack.
The voices of renewal
During the visit to the stands, the authorities learned that Jambaar is not just a technical operation, it is a patriotic mission.
The "feeling today" of satisfaction of duty fulfilled, but above all "of an unwavering commitment" to raise standards to the level of the challenges of sustainable and inclusive development was emphasized to the President of the Assembly and ministers including the supervising minister of Infrastructure.
National expertise, supported by key partners, is ready to meet the challenges of logistical sovereignty.
The strategic importance of this partnership between the Port of Antwerp/Bruges International, whose Managing Director Kristof Waterschoot was present, Conti-Lines represented by Gregory Brion, also Managing Director of Jambaar, the Spanish company also represented and the Senegalese Modou Mamoune Sène AIG Marines and Terminal subsidiary of MAOR GROUP brings cutting-edge technologies and optimized processes to transform Pier 4 into a world-class terminal.
In addition to this, there is the modernization of regional ports. Jambaar is not just building infrastructure, it is building a high-performance ecosystem that will make Dakar shine on the international maritime stage.
For Waly Diouf Bodiang, Director General of the Autonomous Port of Dakar, the 2026 Port Opening marks a turning point.
The ambition is clear: to make the Port of Dakar a digitized, green and integrated hub, serving national emergence.
Towards a river-maritime synergy
Beyond Dakar, this consortium will play a pivotal role in revitalizing secondary ports. Thanks to dredging work undertaken by the Senegalese government, the operator will ensure connections with the interior of the country, thereby facilitating the transport of goods and boosting the local economy of the regions.
The 2026 Port Opening Days close on a note of optimism, with the conviction that the alliance between the PAD and port stakeholders will permanently redefine the contours of the West African maritime economy.
