Repérages, armes neuves, jackpot… : gang de «Rasta», les terribles révélations de l’enquête
"Rasta" and his accomplices have been neutralized. In its Saturday edition, L'Observateur reveals the methods of this gang of criminals who, between October 2025 and January 2026, carried out numerous spectacular robberies in Dalifort, Bel-Air, and Pikine.
A surgical “modus operandi”
As reported by the newspaper of the Groupe Futurs Médias, investigators describe an organization of almost military precision. Far from being amateur burglars, the "Rasta" network operated according to a strict protocol. Each operation was preceded by thorough reconnaissance conducted by a scout. This scout meticulously analyzed the layout of the sites and the habits of the security guards to identify the slightest security vulnerability.
Once the target was confirmed, the gang moved on to logistics: the systematic purchase of new equipment (machetes, bolt cutters, crowbars). The golden rule was never to reuse the tools to avoid any traceability by the police. At 3 a.m., hooded and gloved, the members carried out the attack with disconcerting speed.
In Dalifort, they notably stole 24 million CFA francs and computer equipment from a distribution company, before striking again at a fish processing plant by ripping out a sealed safe containing more than 15 million and 1,000 euros (655,957 FCFA).
It was in Bel-Air that the gang pulled off its biggest heist. At a business in the district, they netted a jackpot of over $100 million (95 million in cash and jewelry valued at an estimated $6 million). Security guards were systematically overpowered, tied up, and robbed of their phones, the mobile money from which was immediately transferred.
Thanks to collaboration between several units (Bel-Air, Pikine, Urban Security, and DIC), seven suspects were arrested, including the alleged ringleader and two receivers of stolen goods. Placed in police custody, they are being prosecuted for organized burglary, criminal conspiracy, and illegal possession of firearms.
While some of the loot was used to finance the members' lifestyles, the investigation revealed a disturbing detail: a portion of the money was systematically paid to accomplices already incarcerated. The investigation is ongoing to determine if other unsolved robberies can be attributed to this network, the same source explained.
