République centrafricaine (Minusca) : Décès d’un militaire sénégalais, sept autres blessés
Sad news for the Senegalese army. A soldier from the 4th Senegalese Rapid Intervention Detachment of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) has lost his life. Seven of his comrades were wounded.
According to the Directorate of Information and Public Relations of the Armed Forces (Dirpa), the tragedy occurred following a fatal accident involving a vehicle from the 4th detachment on Friday, January 16, 2026.
"The incident occurred near the village of Yenga, 22 km from Bouar in the Central African Republic, during a liaison patrol. The result was that one (01) soldier lost his life instantly and seven (07) others were injured, five (05) of whom were seriously injured," the same source reported in its statement.
As a reminder, this Senegalese detachment, with a strength of 180 soldiers, has been deployed in the northwest of the Central African Republic since May 31, 2025 as a rapid reaction force engaged alongside local forces in operations to protect civilian populations.
