RTS : Le RTA-S soutient les travailleurs et réclame le départ de Pape Alé Niang
The Senegal/Péncoo Réew African Workers' Assembly (RTA-S) has shown its solidarity with the workers of the Senegalese Radio and Television Broadcasting (RTS) engaged in a union struggle against the general management.
Indeed, in a statement published this Friday, February 20, 2026, the party is now demanding "the departure of the CEO from the head of this public company in order to preserve the integrity of RTS and the general interest of Senegal."
The RTA-S also calls for "the immediate lifting of the illegal suspension of the company agreement" and for "the cessation of maneuvers and intimidation".
Referring to the summons of the five union representatives to the Colobane Research Section, the press release reveals that investigators were unable to find any grounds for their detention. "They were questioned for ten hours before being released, as investigators found no grounds to hold them accountable," the text states.
For the RTA-S, this summons is "a clear attempt to intimidate workers" which, according to them, "is clashing with the firm will of the union members not to give up."
The movement believes that the struggle aims at "respect for trade union freedoms, the restoration of the dignity of RTS employees and the protection of the public information service".
