Sabodala-Aéré Lao: Gendarmerie thwarts drug trafficking, 35 kg intercepted and 2 arrests

Sabodala- Aéré Lao : La gendarmerie déjoue un trafic de drogue, 35 kg interceptés et 2 arrestations

As part of the implementation of the plan to combat drug trafficking, significant results were recorded by the territorial brigades of the Gendarmerie of Aéré Lao and Sabodala on the day of January 18, 2026, Seneweb learned from Colonel Ibrahima Ndiaye.

Aerated Lao: Escape attempt thwarted

Indeed, during a security operation, the gendarmes of the Territorial Brigade of Aéré Lao spotted an individual with suspicious behavior, traveling at high speed on a motorcycle coming from Madina Ndiathbé (Cas-Cas district) and heading towards Aéré Lao.

An interception operation was immediately set up at the entrance to the town. Ordered to stop, the suspect abandoned his motorcycle and attempted to flee on foot. He was quickly apprehended by the gendarmes, allowing for the identification of his accomplice.

This operation resulted in the arrest of two (02) individuals and the seizure of five (05) kilograms of Indian hemp, packaged in plastic bags, two (02) Jakarta motorcycles as well as two (02) mobile phones.

Sabodala: 30 kg of hemp seized

Similarly, the Sabodala Local Police Brigade, during a patrol on the Bransan road, observed a motorcyclist traveling at high speed. Surprised by the presence of the gendarmes, he attempted to flee into the bush but fell with his cargo. He then abandoned the equipment at the scene.

This operation resulted in the seizure of thirty (30) kilograms of Indian hemp and one (01) motorcycle.

In total, these two coordinated operations resulted in the seizure of 35 kilograms of Indian hemp, three motorcycles and two mobile phones, illustrating the effectiveness of the anti-drug trafficking system deployed by the National Gendarmerie in these sensitive areas.
