Saint-Louis : Un commerçant arrêté par la police avec 9 boulettes de crack
On the night of September 17, 2025, a major security operation led by the Saint-Louis Regional Public Security Service, under the command of Chief Commissioner Mamadou Lamarana Diallo, led to the arrest of an individual in possession of hard drugs.
During the mission, elements of the central police station's research brigade set up a checkpoint at the Bango roundabout to conduct road checks. It was during this check that a taxi was stopped for inspection. After checking the vehicle's documents, the officers began a search of the passenger compartment and the passenger on board.
The customer, whose suspicious behavior attracted the attention of the police, was subjected to a search. Under his chair, the officers discovered a handkerchief containing nine (9) drug pellets wrapped in aluminum foil, according to Seneweb sources.
Taken to the station, the passenger identified himself as D.Seck, aged 57, a trader living in the Ngallele district.
Under brief interrogation, he admitted to possessing the pellets, stating that they were for his own consumption. According to his statements, he resorted to this drug when he ran out of his medication "Lamaline," prescribed by his doctor in France. He allegedly obtained the substance from a friend in Dakar, in the Medina district, without knowing the identity of the supplier.
The nine pellets were forwarded to the Technical and Scientific Police Division for analysis. The results confirmed that they were indeed cocaine, in crack form.
Following the investigation and the expiry of the legal period of police custody, D. Seck was presented yesterday, Friday, September 19, 2025, to Baye Thiam, public prosecutor at the High Court of Saint-Louis. The seized drugs were placed under seal and deposited with the court registry.
This arrest illustrates the vigilance of law enforcement in their ongoing fight against crime and drug trafficking in the northern region of Senegal.
