T. Dieng was arrested and brought before the prosecutor by the Saly urban police station. He is being prosecuted for breach of trust, fraud, and migrant smuggling, following an investigation triggered by several concurring complaints.

The case began on December 19, 2025 with the complaint of CT Diouf. The latter explains that he entrusted his motorcycle to T. Dieng, a close friend who frequented his home, for commercial use in transporting people.

However, as soon as he received the vehicle, the defendant cut off all contact. It wasn't until January 6, 2026, that he was taken to the police station by the complainant and his father. During his interrogation, T. Dieng confessed to having resold the motorcycle in Bignona for the paltry sum of 150,000 FCFA, justifying his actions by citing financial difficulties.

While he was in police custody for this breach of trust, the case took a much more serious turn. Eleven would-be irregular migrants came forward to the police station to report the actions of the accused. According to their testimonies, they had met T. Dieng in Kafountine, where he had promised them clandestine passage to Spain by sea.

Each candidate had given him sums ranging from 20,000 to 500,000 FCFA. The meeting for the grand departure was set for December 5, 2025, in Toubacouta. After hours of fruitless waiting, the victims finally reached T. Dieng by phone. After several false pretenses, he coldly informed them that he was in Joal and would not be coming.

Upon learning of his arrest, the plaintiffs decided to take legal action. Faced with these new accusations, T. Dieng admitted to receiving the money, while attempting to downplay the amounts and shifting the blame to an accomplice, a certain B. Faye, who is reportedly currently a fugitive in Gambia.

In total, the overall damage caused by these fraudulent schemes is estimated at 3,320,000 FCFA. For investigators in Saly, the accumulated evidence demonstrates a clear intent to exploit the credibility of his victims. T. Dieng has been brought before the prosecutor to answer for all his actions.
