Saly-Portudal: un pêcheur arrêté par la police avec 2 kg de yamba
During the night of February 19-20, 2026, the elements of the Research Brigade of the urban police station of Saly-Portudal, under the command of Commissioner Oumar Mbaye, put an end to the activities of a suspected drug trafficker at the Saly crossroads, as part of nighttime security operations.
Alerted by operational intelligence indicating that an individual was in possession of drugs and intended to leave the area for Kayar, the police immediately set up surveillance. The suspect was apprehended as he attempted to board a public transport vehicle.
The man arrested, CATS, 29, claiming to be a fisherman, could not hide what was in his backpack: two kilograms of Indian hemp, carefully packaged in two blocks of one kilogram each.
When questioned by investigators, he refused to take responsibility for the events, claiming that the drugs belonged to an unidentified third party, according to Seneweb sources.
His unconvincing version of events did not prevent him from being taken into custody. He was ultimately brought before the Public Prosecutor at the Mbour High Court on charges of drug trafficking .
