Saly Portudal : un retraité français décède en pleine séance de massage
Gilles Rémy C., a 71-year-old French national, died on Thursday during a massage session at a salon located on Safari Beach in Saly Portudal. The man, a long-time resident of the seaside resort, had gone to the wellness center for a relaxing treatment.
According to the account in L'Observateur, which reported the incident in its Saturday, January 10th edition, the 70-year-old man began to show signs of drowsiness while the massage therapists were treating him. Thinking he had simply fallen asleep due to the relaxation, the therapists continued their work. It was only at the end of the session, faced with the client's complete inertia, that they realized the seriousness of the situation.
The alarm was quickly raised among the bathers, then with the Saly Portudal police station. Initial police findings revealed a lifeless body, found shirtless on the massage table, showing no signs of violence or suspicious behavior. The autopsy, performed at the Thierno Mouhamadoul Mansour Barro Hospital in Mbour, concluded that the death was from natural causes. The masseuses, although briefly detained for questioning, were released after the medical examiner ruled out foul play, the same source concluded.
