Saly : Un individu arrêté avec 500 g de chanvre indien déféré au parquet de Mbour
On January 21, 2026, the Saly-Portudal police station's investigation unit arrested an individual for drug trafficking involving 500 grams of cannabis as he was preparing to deliver a large quantity of drugs. The arrest of A. Kane, a driver by profession, followed the exploitation of intelligence indicating the existence of a drug trafficking network operating along the Nguékokh-Saly axis.
According to police sources, the suspect was placed under surveillance before being apprehended at the Saly-Vélingara intersection, as he was about to deliver a drug order to a client. A search conducted during the operation by Commissioner Mbaye's officers led to the seizure of a red plastic bag containing a block of Indian hemp weighing a total of 500 grams.
Taken to the police station for questioning, A. Kane confessed to the crime during his interrogation. He stated that he had purchased the drugs from a certain Kaw for 30,000 CFA francs, without providing any further details about Kaw's identity or location.
Continuing his statements, he indicated that he had been contacted the same day by a customer who had placed an order for the merchandise, before arranging a delivery appointment.
The investigation also revealed that this was not the suspect's first attempt. He had already been sentenced to three months in prison for using marijuana by the Thiès High Court.
At the conclusion of the proceedings, A. Kane was brought before the prosecutor at the Mbour High Court on charges of drug trafficking. The seized substance was placed under seal and handed over to the competent judicial authority.
The investigation continues in order to identify and arrest the alleged supplier, named by the accused.
