Saraya : Le calvaire des populations après l’arrêt des bus Sénégal Dem Dikk
For over a week, residents of the Saraya department have been experiencing a difficult situation due to the breakdown of the Senegal Dem Dikk bus service, which operates between Saraya and Kédougou. This line, inaugurated in May 2023, was a real breath of fresh air for the local population, who now find themselves deprived of this essential public service.
Without regular bus services, getting to Kédougou is now a real obstacle course. The few available buses charge exorbitant fares, putting a strain on household budgets.
"With Dem Dikk, you could go buy your condiments in Kédougou and come back to prepare your lunch in Saraya. But for over a week, we have been facing enormous difficulties," laments a mother.
At the bus station, a young man with a backpack also testifies to the ordeal: "I waited for more than an hour without finding a car. We called on the general manager of Dem Dikk: the Saraya - Kédougou line is a social gain for the population and must not be suspended."
The impact isn't limited to Saraya. Residents of the neighboring department of Salémata are also feeling the effects of this suspension, which is hampering their economic and social activities. Many point out that this line is a real lever for opening up the area.
Faced with this situation, the population is urgently appealing to the authorities and the management of Sénégal Dem Dikk to quickly restore service. According to them, maintaining this line is not a luxury, but a social and economic necessity for the entire department.
