Saraya/Kharakheyna : six morts dans un éboulement au périmètre d’Afrigold, les recherches se poursuivent
A serious landslide occurred today within the Afrigold mining operation in Kharakheyna, in the Kédougou region, resulting in the deaths of at least six people, according to a preliminary report. The tragedy has caused widespread shock among the local population, while search and rescue operations continue.
Alerted immediately after the incident, officers from the Kharakheyna gendarmerie station went to the scene to carry out the usual procedures and secure the perimeter. Rescue workers, assisted by volunteers, are continuing their search in the hope of finding any victims still trapped under the rubble.
At this stage, the exact circumstances of the landslide have not yet been established. An investigation has been launched to determine the causes of the accident and establish responsibility.
