Sédhiou : And Gueusseum lance 72h de grève totale
The Alliance of Autonomous Health Unions (ASAS) and Gueusseum are taking a tougher stance by declaring a 72-hour strike across the entire national territory starting this Wednesday, April 8, 2026. This ninth action plan aims to denounce the government's delaying tactics in the face of repeated crises in the sector.
At the Sédhiou regional hospital, as in other facilities in the region, Salou Ba, spokesperson for the unions affiliated with And Gueusseum, reports that the strike call is being widely followed, at a rate of 90%. However, he indicated that emergency cases are being treated.
As a reminder, the union members are primarily demanding the immediate implementation of the remaining agreements signed with the government, including salary increases for local government employees and contract workers in public health facilities. The movement also focuses on the payment of the incentive fund and the improvement of working conditions in healthcare facilities that are often under-equipped.
