Sédhiou : un motocycliste intercepté avec 43 kg de chanvre indien après une course-poursuite
As part of strengthening security measures in the lead-up to the Korité festival, the Sédhiou Territorial Brigade, supported by a platoon from the Surveillance and Intervention Squadron (ESI) of the locality, conducted a patrol on March 15, 2026.
During this operation carried out on regional road no. 21 (RR21), at the entrance to the Alioune Souané bridge, the gendarmes spotted two individuals travelling on a motorcycle.
Ordered to stop at the Diannah Malary checkpoint, the suspects refused to comply and attempted to force their way through.
A chase ensued. Following the operation, the gendarmes managed to apprehend one of the fugitives, a Senegalese national. A search of his bag revealed forty-three (43) kilograms of cannabis, according to information obtained by Seneweb from Colonel Ibrahima Ndiaye.
The motorcycle used by the suspects was found abandoned and seized near a river, not far from the place of the arrest.
The investigation continues to find the second individual who fled.
