Vol de signal : un informaticien et son cousin épinglés après une plainte de la Sonatel
Following a complaint from Sonatel, the Koungheul police station arrested two men, both named Modou Seck. According to Libération, which reported the case, they are accused of setting up a clandestine internet network. One, a 39-year-old agricultural operator living in Koungheul, allegedly helped his cousin, a 37-year-old computer scientist living in Dakar, to clandestinely connect 19 houses in several neighborhoods of the city, in exchange for a monthly subscription of 2,500 CFA francs, the same source explains.
The newspaper reports that the seized equipment includes 21 Wi-Fi modems, 8 switches, an adapter and a cooler.
They have been in police custody since September 22 and are being prosecuted for signal theft, fraudulent access to a computer system, and illegally carrying out an activity subject to authorization.
