In a strongly worded statement released today, the organization denounces the hearings of journalist Pape Ngagne Ndiaye and former MP Doudou Wade, seeing them as a sign of the current regime's slide towards authoritarianism.
Outrage is widespread within the FDR. The movement condemns the recent summonses to the Dakar Urban Security headquarters, accusing the current government of prosecuting citizens for mere opinions. For the Front, stating that Senegal is "heading towards a dark future" is not a crime, but an observation shared by many Senegalese.
The FDR points to what it considers a two-tiered justice system. The statement highlights a paradoxical situation: while critical voices are harassed, those who "verbately insult religious leaders" face no prosecution, thus threatening civil peace and national stability.
At the heart of the protest lies Article 254 of the Penal Code, concerning insults against the President of the Republic. The FDR describes this text as "outdated" and unworthy of a true democracy. The organization does not simply criticize; it demands a profound reform of the judicial system.
"The FDR believes it is time to put an end to this article, that it is urgent to repeal it along with all the other freedom-restricting articles of the penal code and the code of criminal procedure."
In conclusion, the Front demands the immediate cessation of proceedings against Pape Ngagne Ndiaye and Doudou Wade. It makes a solemn appeal to citizens and human rights organizations to "confront this new injustice."

Au lieu de condamner les propos de Doudou WADE et son complice Papa Ngagne qui appellent à reddition et au coup d’Etat. Vous nous tympanisez avec l’arrêt de procédure

Omar Gning termine avec la politique terre à terre avec l'affaire " Doudou Wade". Le Ministre plus à l'aise répond intimement .
Oumar Gning devrait avoir l'humilité de mieux préparer davantage ses questions et émission. Faut pas être un " Fonctionnaire " journaliste. Seul changement, aujourd'hui il est plus hardi en liberté de poser des questions sous ce nouveau régime. Au temps de Racine Talla et Macky, c'était gâteau envers les ministres. Mais il doit être plus pertinent s'il se préoccupe de.... l'audience de son émission en travail bien fait et Méritoire.
