Supporters sénégalais condamnés au Maroc : une grande mobilisation prévue samedi à Dakar
In Senegal, outrage is growing following the sentencing of 18 Lions supporters by Moroccan courts to prison terms ranging from three months to one year. Faced with this situation, as reported by Le Quotidien in its Wednesday, February 25th edition, a wave of solidarity is sweeping the country, spearheaded by iconic figures in sports and citizen movements.
Former Lions coach Amara Traoré has taken a stand to call for a large-scale mobilization. In an interview with Wiwsport, reprinted by the Avenir Communication group's daily newspaper, he advocated for strong citizen action. This call will materialize in the form of a peaceful march scheduled for Saturday, February 28th at 10:00 AM, with the meeting point at the Liberté 5 roundabout in Dakar.
Diplomacy and requests for clemency
Beyond the street protests, attention is turning to the highest levels of government. Organizers are urging Senegalese authorities to use all available diplomatic and legal means. According to the latest reports, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has written to King Mohammed VI of Morocco to request a royal pardon for the detainees.
