Tambacounda : Manifestation à Sinthiou Maléme contre le morcellement illégal de 500 hectares de terres
Residents of six villages in the commune of Sinthiou Maléme, Tambacounda department – Thiorobougou, Gallobougou, Thiorobougou Peulh, Saré Maka, Saré Baydi, and Saré – expressed their discontent through a protest against the unauthorized subdivision of their land. This operation, covering more than 500 hectares, was carried out without the approval of village chiefs or local residents, affecting more than 1,000 people.
For several weeks, according to their spokesperson Lassana Traoré, residents of these towns have been alerting the authorities about the fragmentation of their farmland by individuals they accuse of being "gravediggers and crooks" for housing purposes. Wearing red armbands, they are demanding the intervention of the governor and the highest authorities, including Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, to prevent the worst.
