Elements of the Tambacounda central police station carried out a large-scale operation, on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., in the sensitive areas where gang activity constitutes a persistent threat to residents.

According to police authorities, this operation is part of an intensified plan to combat malicious individuals who terrorize the population. The sleuths, supported by the GMI, carried out targeted raids on several hideouts known to harbor individuals engaged in criminal activities.

Thus, 84 people were arrested for various offenses, including identity checks, public and obvious drunkenness, use of cellulose acid, soliciting in bars, possession and use of Indian hemp and others for the need of investigation.

"This intervention aims to disrupt criminal networks and restore a sense of security to the citizens of Tambacounda," declared the head of the Tambacounda police.

For some time now, residents have been expressing concern about snatch thefts by motorcycle drivers in Jakarta and burglaries in neighborhoods. The operation was seen as a response to numerous calls for help from residents.

"We hope that these actions will continue to definitively put an end to the hold of criminals in our community," hopes a shopkeeper from the Saré Guilel district.

The police announced that other similar operations will be carried out in the coming days to instill fear among criminals in the municipal area. Law enforcement is also calling on the public to cooperate by providing information that could help identify and arrest the criminals. "Security is everyone's business. We need the support of citizens to eradicate this threat," insisted the central commissioner.
