Téléphones, sacs, lunettes, djembés et plateaux de ceebu jën : les objets insolites oubliés par les utilisateurs de Yango au Sénégal
In the bustling streets of Dakar, Thiès, and Mbour, Yango's partner drivers not only transport passengers, but are sometimes, in spite of themselves, the guardians of forgotten belongings. Although the phone remains the most lost and forgotten object, some unusual objects found in vehicles can surprise and raise a smile.
Unusual forgotten objects
Between 2024 and 2025, the Yango Senegal technology platform recorded 14,286 requests for the return of forgotten items in Senegal. Telephones ranked first, accounting for 60% of cases. Glasses came in second, accounting for 12%, followed by bags and luggage, accounting for 8%.

This information reflects an observation: passengers leave behind objects, goods that are used on a daily basis.
When forgetting takes on a local color
Some stories are out of the ordinary and reflect Senegalese life in all its diversity. Drivers have found: a giant Senegalese flag, probably forgotten after a sporting victory or a national celebration; a tray of ceebu jën , the national dish, carefully covered, which transformed the back seat into a rolling dining room; a djembe and a balafon, witnesses to lively musical evenings; a brand new Senegalese boubou, ready for a ceremony; a plastic chair, symbol of friendly neighborhood gatherings; Muslim and Christian rosaries, recalling the spiritual plurality of the country.
Recovery of forgotten objects
Yango Senegal has implemented a feature for customers to retrieve their forgotten items. When a driver reports an item, the customer receives a notification via the app and can contact the driver directly to retrieve their belongings. It doesn't matter what the item is. So, don't worry if you're forgetful, but still double-check that you haven't forgotten anything when you leave the vehicle!
