Toubab Dialaw sous haute tension : La jeunesse se dresse contre les expropriations et dénonce le silence de l’État
Tensions are rising in Toubab Dialaw. The village is reeling from a new wave of land expropriations. This time, 600 hectares have been ceded to Dubai Port World (DPW), adding to the 1,200 hectares already allocated to the Port of Ndayane. Young people, on the front lines, denounce the complete lack of dialogue with the authorities and vow to defend their heritage "to the very end."
The Collective for the Defense of the Interests of Yène-Dialaw denounces years of efforts that have remained a dead letter (letters, ministerial meetings, appeals to APIX and DPW Senegal), nothing has come of it.
"These are promises repeated endlessly, without any concrete follow-up," laments a member of the collective.
For the residents, this silence amounts to contempt. They accuse the state of favoring foreign interests at the expense of local communities.
"Those expropriated from the Port are still waiting for their compensation. All they receive is contempt," the group protested.
A youth determined to resist
Faced with what they consider a dead end, the youth of Toubab Dialaw are organizing. Rallies, vigils, mobilization on social networks: the watchword is clear: do not back down.
"We will not take the canoes to flee. We will stay here, with rigor, discipline and courage. We will not accept being homeless on the land of our ancestors," they proclaim.
A young leader of the movement even confronted the census takers, ordering them to leave the area.
“We are on a war footing, but our fight is just. We are defending our land, our families and our dignity,” she says.
Towards a Social Explosion?
The presence of reconnaissance equipment in certain areas is fueling fears of escalation. Tensions are spreading to neighboring villages.
Local elected officials, who had previously remained silent, are beginning to express their concern.
“We are ready to sacrifice our lives for our land. It belongs to Toubab Dialaw and we will fight to get it back,” says a young resident.
The prolonged silence of the authorities appears to have reached a breaking point. Concern is turning into resistance, now threatening the social stability of the entire region.

Merci
Après les 1 200 hectares, voilà qu’ils reviennent pour 600 de plus !
Et pendant que les familles pleurent, ils avancent comme si personne n’existait.
Mais qu’ils sachent que nous ne quitterons pas Toubab Dialaw.
