Tentative de meurtre à Keur Massar : 2 policiers blessés à la machette lors d'un démantèlement de réseau de drogue
A forceful dismantling of an Indian hemp trafficking network in the Darou Missette district of Keur Massar nearly turned into a tragedy on the night of Saturday, February 14 to Sunday, February 15, 2026. Two police officers were seriously injured with machetes, while seven suspects, including two women, were presented yesterday, Monday, to prosecutor Saliou Dicko, head of the Pikine-Guédiawaye prosecutor's office, according to Seneweb sources.
It all began with an anonymous tip reporting intense cannabis trafficking near a mosque and a basin, as well as in Unit 11 of the Keur Massar housing estate. According to the source, two individuals nicknamed "Gora" and "Maco" were the main organizers of this illicit trade, packaging the drugs in a room before having them delivered by young motorcycle taxi drivers.
Based on this information, the elements of the Research Brigade of the Yeumbeul-Comico District Police Station, under the command of Commissioner Ousmane Diop, discreetly set up surveillance and tracking devices around the indicated locations.
Around 2:00 a.m., police officers intercepted two individuals near the mosque. One of them, sensing the presence of law enforcement, threw a bag to the ground. A search revealed a small packet of marijuana. Continuing their investigation, the officers discovered another bag containing thirty-seven (37) more packets of marijuana near the mosque.
Led to the suspected home of the drug dealer "Gora", the police officers then encountered violent and organized resistance.
Upon arrival, two individuals burst from the bedroom, alerting the family and neighbors. Armed with machetes, they launched an attack. The family joined the assault, throwing stones. It was in this confusion that MD, 30, came down from the first floor, machete in hand, and violently attacked two officers.
The LSC officer was struck in the head and ribs with a machete. Seriously injured, he was first rushed to Pikine Hospital, then transferred to Fann Hospital. During the altercation, his assailants also stole his cell phone, his bag containing his professional ID card, his national identity card, and some money.
His colleague, the PAS agent, who was hit in the leg by a machete blow, is being treated at the Yeumbeul Health Center.
Taking advantage of the chaos, two of the suspects initially arrested fled, taking the service's handcuffs with them. They were caught a few hours later.
Despite the violence of the altercation, the police, thanks to their professionalism and tenacity, subdued MD and conducted a thorough search of the residence. The results of the seizures were significant: thirty-seven (37) packets and one loose bag of Indian hemp, a jar containing degreased hemp seeds, two machetes, a gas canister, two Jakarta motorcycles, and two flat-screen televisions, according to Seneweb sources.
The seven accused
The seven individuals arrested were brought before the Pikine-Guédiawaye prosecutor's office on charges of attempted murder of a police officer in the performance of his duties, offering and selling marijuana, assault and battery with bladed weapons, making death threats, robbery in a group, resisting arrest, and obstructing police action. They are:
