TGI de Louga : Les deux prévenus dans l’agression de l’enseignant Ahmadou Bamba Souané libérés
The Louga High Court released the two young men accused of assaulting teacher Ahmadou Bamba Soauné on Wednesday due to lack of evidence. The incident occurred on the night of Tuesday, January 16, 2024, in the village of Loumbi Dobé, in the commune of Barkedji (Linguère department).
Teacher Ahmadou Bamba Souané was attacked at his workplace by two individuals armed with machetes. They injured his left eye. Taken to Magatte Lo Hospital, he ultimately lost his eye. A week after the attack, the gendarmerie arrested two young men from the village of Loumbi Dobé, accused of carrying out the violent assault.
Angered, the colleagues of the teacher in the Linguère department had observed a walkout followed by a 24-hour general strike, in support of their brutally attacked colleague.
In a statement, the Ministry of National Education condemned in the strongest possible terms this unspeakable violence, which not only undermines human dignity but also the values of peace, respect, and solidarity that underpin the Senegalese education system. It also called on local authorities to strengthen the security of teachers.
