Le CRDP-50 dénonce des dérives « ethnicistes » de Maïmouna Ndour Faye
The Democratic and Patriotic Reflection Framework (CRDP-50) spoke out on Tuesday. In an official statement, the organization strongly condemned the remarks made by journalist Maïmouna Ndour Faye, which it deemed detrimental to national cohesion.
The controversy originated from a program broadcast the previous day on 7TV. According to CRDP-50, Maïmouna Ndour Faye allegedly likened the current regime to a "Serer power," while making remarks deemed stigmatizing towards this community.
The group argues that these statements are not only "serious and irresponsible, but they directly contradict the principles of the Republic."
The CRDP-50 reiterates that the Senegalese state is founded on the principle of equal citizenship, without distinction of origin or ethnicity. Such rhetoric, the group continues, "fuels artificial identity divisions and undermines social cohesion in Senegal."
The statement emphasizes a red line that must not be crossed: political debate must, under no circumstances, devolve into the essentialization of power or the stigmatization of communities. "The Republic of Senegal is neither ethnic nor clan-based. It must remain one and indivisible," the organization insists.
Regulators called upon
Faced with what it calls a "drift," the CRDP-50 has issued a formal appeal to regulatory bodies, including the CNRA (National Audiovisual Regulatory Council) and the CORED (Council for the Observation of Ethical and Professional Standards). The organization is asking them to fulfill their oversight role and, if necessary, to impose the sanctions stipulated by existing regulations. The goal is to protect the public sphere from any discourse that could threaten social peace.
In conclusion, the CRDP-50 reiterates its commitment to a healthy debate of ideas, based on political programs and mutual respect for all components of the nation.
