L’association caritative DOMOU SENEGAL en action : pompage, solidarité et soutien concret dans les quartiers de Tivaouane Peulh et Keur Massa
For over a year, DOMOU SENEGAL has been serving vulnerable populations in Senegal, particularly through its social initiatives. Today, the association is stepping up its efforts as part of an emergency response to flooding in several neighborhoods of the capital. The exceptional rainfall of the last few days has submerged key areas such as Parcelles Assainies, Yoff, Cambérène, Patte d'Oie, Thiaroye, and Diamaguène. The flooding has affected homes, disrupted health services (including the Philippe Maguilen Senghor Hospital), and put a strain on urban infrastructure.
According to ANACIM, Dakar received up to 77 mm of rain in one day, demonstrating the exceptional intensity of the rainfall. Pumping systems helped dry out several critical areas, allowing normal life to quickly resume in some areas.
However, the rainy season continues. DOMOU SENEGAL volunteers have intervened in the Tivaouane Peulh and Keur Massar neighborhoods, where stagnant water poses a major obstacle to movement, health, and the daily lives of residents. The teams remain mobilized to continue pumping, distributing aid, and ensuring the vital link between the affected populations.
DOMOU SENEGAL's actions
1. 1 - Intensive pumping of stagnant water in some of the most affected areas to prevent the spread of waterborne diseases (malaria, diarrhea, poor sanitation) and quickly restore access to homes. In Tivaouane Peulh, on September 10 and 11, 2025, more than 220 m³ of water was evacuated (or 220,000 liters ) thanks to pumping and cleaning of critical points.
In Keur Massar, approximately 2,500,000 liters of water were pumped using the equivalent of 125 trucks.
tanks ( 2500 m³ ), for the days of September 16, 18 and 19, 2025.
2. - Community support: psychosocial support, information on risks
health issues related to stagnant water, prevention actions. The Domou Senegal association was keen to coordinate its actions with local residents and inhabitants of the targeted neighborhoods to secure the area.
3. Coordination with neighborhood residents to optimize the impact and reach of
interventions.
Domou Senegal: a year of social commitment
Founded just over a year ago, the Domou Senegal association has established itself as a determined player in Senegal's social fabric. Their mission focuses on supporting vulnerable populations, particularly in the social, educational, sports, and health sectors. These emergency interventions are fully in line with this long-term commitment.

J’aurai écrit “Doomi” au lieu de “Domou”.
C’est là où nous en sommes dans ce pays, on laisse les gens écrire n’importe comment dans leur langue nationale et on nous parle d’intégrer cette dernière dans l’éducation scolaire.
