« Le parquet l’a...» : les avocats de Pape Malick Ndour déconcertés
Pape Malick Ndour, former Minister of Youth and coordinator of the Convergence of Republican Executives (CCR), was taken into custody on Friday at the Research Section of the Colobane gendarmerie, after being summoned after Friday prayers.
The Apériste leader was targeted for inciting insurrection, disturbing public order, undermining the regular functioning of the Republic, and undermining the morale of the armed forces. Arrested after the prayer at Patte d'Oie, he presented himself to the police station accompanied by his lawyer, Oumar Youm, and MP Abdou Mbow.
But against all expectations, the prosecutor's office ordered his release that evening, without any charges ultimately being brought against him. "He was taken into custody around 6 p.m. and had to wait until 10 p.m. to be informed of his outright release," reports L'Observateur.
According to the daily newspaper of the Future Media Group, even his lawyers were taken by surprise. "We don't know any more. We only know that our client has been released. The prosecutor's office summoned him, and the prosecutor's office released him," one of his lawyers told the newspaper.
However, Libération states that his lawyers had tried, until the last minute, to obtain a postponement of the hearing due to the weekend, but that the police refused.
Now free, Pape Malick Ndour has reportedly decided to withdraw, as of Monday, the complaints filed against Amadou Bâ and Ayib Daffé, two Pastef officials whom he accused of defamation following comments made during a march in Dakar, reports L'Observateur.
