Thiaméne : Les populations exposent leurs doléances
Located three kilometers from the town of Tattaguine (Fatick), the village of Thiaméne took advantage of its annual Gamou celebration to voice its main grievances. The president of the Gamou organizing committee, Sidy Thiam, highlighted the village's urgent infrastructure needs.
"The most urgent grievance remains the completion and delivery of the great mosque of Thiaméne, a project begun thanks to the efforts of the local population, in order to be in line with our status as a religious city," said Sidy Thiam.
The chairman of the organizing committee also emphasized the need to provide the village with a middle school (CEM) recently recognized by the state. "The construction of this school will relieve overcrowding at the elementary school, which is temporarily housing 6th and 7th grade classes. The land has already been identified and is available," he explained.
On the health front, Sidy Thiam advocated for the establishment of a health post to improve access to care for local populations. "Residents are forced to travel long distances to receive treatment," he emphasized.
He also drew the authorities' attention to the state of the Tattaguine-Thiaméne-Ngohé road, which he considers a major obstacle to the area's development. "The rehabilitation of this road is essential for opening up the village and for the socio-economic development of Thiaméne," concluded the chairman of the Gamou organizing committee.
