The Thiaroye district police station arrested an individual in Djiddah Thiaroye Kao on December 5, 2025, in connection with a complex case. The man is being prosecuted for attempted rape of a thirteen-year-old girl, production and sale of food unfit for consumption, operating without a permit to manufacture and sell sachets of water, and endangering the lives of others.
This arrest follows a complaint filed by the victim's older brother, revealing a scheme carefully orchestrated by the accused.
According to the complainant's statements, the suspect had been trying to marry his younger sister, who was only 13 years old, for some time. Faced with the minor's categorical refusal, the man resorted to subterfuge to get his way. He managed to convince the girl's mother to agree to introduce her to his parents, who lived in Kaffrine, under false pretenses.
Thus, on November 20, 2025, at around 7 p.m., they boarded a bus bound for Kaolack. However, once they arrived at their destination, the suspect offered the young woman a place to stay for the night in a hotel, claiming he wanted to help his sister who worked there with her child.
A sexual assault in a hotel room
Upon arriving at the scene, not only was the suspect's sister absent, but he also waited until late at night to commit the act. He then assaulted the minor and attempted to penetrate her. When the girl categorically refused to submit to his demands, he slapped and bit her on the left shoulder. Realizing she was still a virgin, he finally told her to take a shower and get ready to go home.
The victim, interviewed by investigators, fully confirmed her brother's statements, thus providing damning testimony against her alleged attacker.
On December 5, 2025, at approximately 8:00 PM, acting on operational intelligence that located the suspect at his home in Djiddah Thiaroye Kao, members of the investigation unit raided the premises. They caught the individual in the act of working at his makeshift water sachet factory.
The investigation led to some astonishing discoveries. In a room emitting a foul odor, police found a water tank connected to a bagging machine. Even more alarming, a stack of fifty-six packets of water sachets bearing the "Si bon Zam Zam" brand lay scattered on the floor next to a mat, in clearly unsanitary conditions. A motorcycle tricycle used for deliveries was also found on the premises.
Unconvincing denials
Arrested and briefly questioned, the suspect attempted to deny the attempted rape charges against him, but failed to convince investigators. Regarding the production and sale of water sachets, he was unable to produce any permit or administrative authorization justifying his clandestine activity.
The individual was taken into custody, while the water sachets were seized and placed under seal for the use of the Public Prosecutor's Office. The investigation is ongoing to determine the extent of this dual criminal activity and to identify any other potential victims.
