A shoe seller at the Thiaroye market, identified as B. Diop (43 years old), was arrested and brought before the public prosecutor for sexual abuse of a 15-year-old minor, followed by pregnancy.
The case came to light when the victim's mother, MD Diagne, noticed a physical change in her daughter. Under interrogation, the teenager revealed that she had been repeatedly assaulted by the shopkeeper in his canteen.
According to the accusation, reported by L'Observateur, B. Diop seduced the minor by offering her money during her first visit. Since then, the teenager regularly went to the canteen, the vendor closing the door each time. The investigation was launched following the mother's complaint, and the girl's gynecological examination confirmed an ongoing pregnancy.
Arrested in Keur Massar, B. Diop admitted the facts, but tried to justify himself by citing the minor's consent, since he "gave her money each time. And besides, we only did it twice." This version was denied by witnesses (close to the seller), claiming that their meetings were frequent. The suspect was brought before the prosecutor's office on Monday, reports the daily newspaper of the Future Media Group.
