Thiès : un père fait condamner son fils pour violences et menaces de mort
E. Faye, a 35-year-old bank employee, appeared before the Thiès court of flagrant offenses for violence and assault, as well as for making death threats against his father.
According to the victim, the incident occurred at the family home. The father claims he was violently attacked by his eldest son.
“He is my eldest son. I fulfilled my role as a father towards him. I expected him to be an example to his younger siblings. But he dared to assault me and threaten to kill me. He was drunk that day. He grabbed me, then slammed me against a table before threatening to kill me. I am two years from retirement and he is the one who should be in a position to take over,” he declared in court.
The defendant did not contest the facts. "It was a friend's birthday. I was drunk and I wasn't aware of my actions. I acted wrongly and I want to apologize," he admitted, promising to give up alcohol and to adopt a respectful attitude towards his father from now on.
Speaking next, the deputy prosecutor requested the application of the law.
In the end, the court found E. Faye guilty of the charges against him, before sentencing him to three months in prison with a suspended sentence.
