Thiès : Surpris en train de voler des coqs, il menace son neveu de mort et finit condamné
The Thiès court heard a rather unusual family case on Monday. A. Niang was being prosecuted for violence, assault, and death threats against his nephew, M. Niang. The conflict stemmed from the day the defendant was caught by his nephew stealing roosters belonging to his own brother, O. Niang.
According to the prosecution, far from recanting after being discovered, A. Niang allegedly assaulted the young man before making death threats to punish him for reporting him. Given the seriousness of these actions, the victim's father decided to file a complaint, leading to the defendant's arrest and detention.
In court, A. Niang vehemently denied the charges. He attempted to turn the situation around, claiming that it was, on the contrary, his nephew who was stealing his pigeons. He even asserted that he had initially filed a complaint before the proceedings backfired on him.
The public prosecutor was not convinced by this line of defense, considering the facts to be established and requesting the application of the law. After deliberation, the court found A. Niang guilty of the charges against him and sentenced him to a one-month suspended prison sentence.
