THIÈS : Deux coépouses se battent pour un étendoir à linge
The two wives, S. Aïdara and M. Mbodj, went to settle their differences in the Thiès court. They had fought violently over a clothesline before being separated by their husbands. The incident occurred in the Darou Salam neighborhood of Thiès.
In their marital home, S. Aïdara and M. Mbodj live like cats and dogs. They are in perpetual conflict, and this clothesline incident was the last straw.
Following their fight, each obtained a medical certificate to file a complaint against the other. Both charged with mutual violence and assault, the co-wives are being tried this Monday, December 15th, by the Thiès court.
In court, they admitted to fighting over the clothesline, but each tried to pin the blame on the other.
"I had hung out my laundry and she took it away to put on her clothes. When I confronted her, she attacked me and injured my arm," said S. Aïdara, the second wife.
However, Mr. Mbodj confided that since S. Aïdara arrived at the house, she has been causing him problems daily and verbally abusing him.
Considering the facts to be established, the public prosecutor requested the application of the law. The judge found the co-wives guilty of violence and assault and sentenced each to a suspended fine of 20,000 CFA francs.
