Thiès : Deux trafiquants de kush arrêtés au marché central, le cerveau opère depuis Dakar
On Sunday afternoon, around 3 p.m., the Thiès 1st District police station's investigation brigade put an end to the activities of two kush dealers operating at the central market. MB Diop, 31, and D. Ndiaye, 36, were arrested in possession of several doses of the drug. They confessed to being part of a network supplied from Dakar, according to Seneweb sources.
According to information received by the police, a kush distribution network is operating at the Thiès central market. This particularly dangerous synthetic drug circulates freely in this busy location. The sleuths then set up a two-pronged operation. They first established constant surveillance of the central market to identify suspects. Then, they carried out an infiltration of the scene to understand the traffickers' modus operandi. This patient strategy paid off. The officers spotted a suspicious individual and decided to take action on Sunday afternoon.
Dealer caught with 8,000 CFA francs bag of kush
Around 3 p.m., the police arrested MB Diop, a 31-year-old man living in the Takhikao neighborhood. A search revealed he was carrying a bag of kush. The value of this single dose was 8,000 CFA francs. Under pressure from investigators, the dealer revealed the identity of his supplier. The police wasted no time. They used this information to trace the distribution chain. Their new target: D. Ndiaye, a 36-year-old man living in Hersent.
The arrest was swift and the haul was much larger than the first. In D. Ndiaye's case, the officers discovered 20 cones of kush sold at a unit price of 1,000 CFA francs, or 20,000 CFA francs in total; three bags of kush sold at a unit price of 8,000 CFA francs, or 24,000 CFA francs in total.
In total, Mr. Ndiaye had 44,000 CFA francs worth of drugs in 23 doses ready to be sold on the market.
Faced with the physical evidence, the two men had no choice: they confessed. They acknowledged their status as drug traffickers and detailed their role in the network.
But the revelations don't stop there. The two dealers provide crucial information: they are merely middlemen. Their main kush supplier operates out of Dakar. The network is therefore larger than it appears and extends beyond the borders of Thiès.
Placed in police custody, MB Diop and D. Ndiaye will have to answer to the charges of possession and trafficking of narcotics.
