Thiès: L’entrepreneur M. Diagne poursuivi pour escroquerie et abus de confiance portant sur un terrain et 8 véhicules

Mr. Diagne, a construction entrepreneur, has been remanded in custody on charges of fraud and breach of trust. Three individuals have filed complaints against him for separate offenses.

In the dock of the Thiès court for flagrant offenses, the plaintiff, A. Sarr, explained that her eight trucks had been out of service for over a year. To get them back on the road, she had hired Mr. Diagne for repair and maintenance work. She claims to have paid him 2 million CFA francs for these services.

According to her, after restoring the trucks, Mr. Diagne put them into circulation without her knowledge, using them to transport goods between Dakar and Mali without informing her and without giving her the proceeds.

“When I discovered that four of my trucks were operating between Dakar and Mali, I demanded payment from him. I learned that each truck had made two trips and that he was collecting 2 million CFA francs per trip, while he only declared 1,200,000 CFA francs to me. He refused to pay the rest of the money and to provide an accounting of maintenance expenses, which is why I filed a complaint,” explained Ms. Sarr.

Mr. I. Fall recounted that Mr. Diagne had approached him when he was looking to buy a vehicle, offering him a car for 3 million CFA francs. Once the money was paid, the businessman became unreachable. Hence his complaint.

As for A. Ndoye, he claims to have purchased land from Mr. Diagne, which ultimately turned out to be registered to someone else. Without having received any documents, he went to the plot to begin construction and found another buyer already building there.

Before the judge, Mr. Diagne denied all the accusations except that of I. Fall. He admitted to having received the 3 million CFA francs and promised to repay it after his release from prison.

Believing the defendant guilty, the prosecutor requested the strict application of the law.

The case is adjourned for deliberation until November 28, 2025.
