Thiès : Deux ivrognes arrêtés en pleine revente d’un pneu volé
L. Seck and G. Agne appeared before the Thiès court on Monday. They are being prosecuted for stealing a tire. The incident occurred in the Hersent neighborhood of Thiès.
That day, the two defendants, intoxicated, stole a tire belonging to D. Kane. While attempting to resell it to a tire repair shop, they were caught red-handed by the owner. Caught in the act, they were taken to the police station and subsequently remanded in custody.
In court, L. Seck admitted to the facts. He explained that a man named Ndiol had brought them the tire so they could resell it. "We wanted to sell it to a tire repair shop, but the owner caught us. We stole the tire in the Hersent neighborhood. There were three of us. Once at the police station, the investigators released Ndiol but detained G. Agne and me. We couldn't resell the tire. We were drunk and we frequent the same bar," he stated.
For his part, G. Agne initially tried to deny the facts, claiming that he was unaware of the tire's fraudulent origin. "I was accompanying them to profit from it, but I didn't know the tire had been stolen," he maintained.
However, his co-defendant L. Seck claimed that he knew perfectly well that the tire came from a theft.
The two men then exchanged heated words in the dock before being called to order.
Finally, G. Agne admitted the facts and, along with his co-defendant, asked the court for leniency.
The public prosecutor requested the application of the law. The court found the two defendants guilty and sentenced them to fifteen days in prison.
